My salary is very low, so I try to create my budget table. Sometimes I buy food such as: mineral water, juice, exotic fruits, chocolate. Does it belong to luxury goods or necessity goods? Because I could live without it and save more money. But sometimes I want to buy it to live healthier or just to feel good. Also sometimes I buy these products to make some rare dish. I could make more simple dish without exotic fruits for example but it’s healthy and tasteful.
What food belong to luxury goods or necessity goods?
Necessity foods are those representing the basic food groups that are widely available at relatively low prices.
Here’s my opinion of each of the items you mention:
Mineral Water: luxury item, unless the tap water in your area is undrinkable
Juice: some juices, such as orange and tomato, would generally be considered necessities, while the more exotic flavors, which go for higher prices, would be luxury foods.
Exotic Fruits: by definition luxury, since they are "exotic" and more expensive than the basics, such as apples and bananas.
Chocolate: basically all candies are luxury foods, in that you can easily survive without them.
This isn’t to say that you should avoid luxury foods, particularly if they are healthy and you enjoy them. But, if you are living on a tight budget, you should think twice before overdoing it on luxury foods.
