I’m thinking of planning a trip with some friends to see America over the summer. I’m just trying to work out how much money I’ll need ‘cos the most expensive things are going to be flights and accommodation. I have no idea how much American motels are though. Any help from either Americans or people who’ve visited there before? Like are there any websites or well known brands of travel inn/motel that would give me a rough idea? Thanks

It really does depend on where you stay! There are places as cheap as $30 a night. Motel 6 is a decent and inexpensive stay. I think your average for a cheap suite is probably $45-$70…but like I said it depends on where you go. in a smaller town it will be less expensive.
*** $200 a night will get you a nicer suite, of course, but if you’re looking for something inexpensive, there are DEFINITELY places cheaper than that.

I will arrive in Mexico City on the coming Saturday and will need a budget accommodation (possibly in a US$ 10 – 20 / night) in the center of the city. Can you recommend me some (or at least an area where to look for)? How full do these hotels get over the weekends? Would it be OK to just come there on Saturday afternoon without reservation, or should I try to book something asap? (places available for booking tend to be more expensive … but better than stay in the street)

I’ve been treated for bipolar for a long time. No special accommodations are needed. I have had a hard time finding medication that works for me, and had to miss extra work due to kidney failure, or the inability to function, so I suppose there may be a few extra days off, if medication isn’t set. Other than that, check to ensure that they are getting along with their shrink, that their medication is working, find out what the side effects they are experiencing are so that you can help them. There is no over all this or that to look for, as medications effect each of us differently.
Aside from that, treat us just like everyone else.

There are a lot of hotels and inns in Tagaytay. From the high-end Summit Ridge, Taal Vista, and Discovery Country Suites (average P6,000 per room night) to the smaller boutique hotels, bed & breakfast accommodations (average P3,000 per room night for 2 persons) and down to homes that have been converted into "hotels" that charge as low as P500 per room-night.
I suggest you drive around for a look-see so you can find the ideal place for you and your family.
You can also try Aroma Apartelle. I went there last week to visit relatives who booked themselves there overnight because they were, like you, attending a wedding in Caleruega.
