Can anyone suggest cheap accommodation in New York?

March 21st, 2010 | by admin |

I want a bed, a shower and a local cheap food in the centre. That will do me

Very hard. I would definitely stay out of the city and just take the train in. Long Island has some motels you could probably get for 500-600/week and take the LIRR in. Also you could stay in Jersey and take the PATH. Good luck.

You might want to try a hotel in New Jersey and just take the PATH to the city. You can save oodles of money that way. I did that exact thing and had plenty of extra to shop and enjoy the food and sights.

The Pennsylvania is quite cheap, and just a few blocks from Time Square
Also, the Edison is a good cheap central hotel too
If you’re not fussy you could try Hostels?

Check out hostels or hosted (shared) apartments. There are always a bunch on craigslist. I came across this site recently… nycvacationstays.com

Radio City Apartments on West 49th Street. The Rockefeller Centre at one end and Times Square at the other. Handy for the subway. Rooms are pretty basic but if you’re anything like us you won’t spend a lot of time there anyway! And for that location the price is absolutely fantastic, we met people staying miles out who were paying more than we were.
