What is the cost of staying at a motel by the month?

Does it cost more to rent an apartment or go to a motel that is pay by the week? I have friends that are stating that they are going to live at Extended Stay America for $740/mos. My rent is higher than that and I have to pay utilities.

It depends on the hotel and on the apartment. A hotel can cost less, and keep in mind that a hotel has amenities such as maid service, laundry, cable TV and internet, room service, etc.

is it difficult for unemployed minority get good accomodation in the UK?

heard rumours that private sector in the UK for accomodation do not prefer people such as minority without a job, let alone their specific request for no DSS.

Since on average minorities have a higher risk of unemployment, does this mean that they will always end up in a slump area and suffer from a bad quality of life?

Best idea is to do voluntary work. The Job centre will allow you to do this if less than 15hrs.
Then you can go to a landlord or accommodation provider with references, and tell them that you have a job! You will still get all your benefits if you do less than 15 hrs per week of voluntary work. If they refuse you accommodation then you should appeal.

Good thing with voluntary is it helps your CV, gets you references, that will greatly improve your chances of getting a full time proper job! And you can volunteer to work in any field that interests you! This is because if employers don’t have to pay you then they will be happier to give you some work. It would be a great way of turning your interests into a career, say you like engineering, then you could volunteer to work on a preserved railway or museum. You could volunteer in a library, hospital, school, church or other religious place etc. So it will be something you enjoy while helping improve your career prospects! Its not just charity shops!

Also you can choose the hours and days to suit you so long as you don’t exceed 15 per week.

If you do that it shows the accommodation people you are a worker and good character, so what do they have to argue? Good luck!

How am I meant to pay for student accomodation?

The accomodation I applied for have asked for the first terms installment by the 7th of september and I won’t receive my student loan until the 26th at the earliest. Does antone have any ideas of how to sort this out? I’m starting to get concerned about whether I’m going to have anywhere to live when I go to university in 2 and half weeks time. Please pleasehelp :( xx

You should call the housing office at the college where you are attending. It sounds like they should know about housing and should put you on a list that indicates what your problem is. Actually, you are not the only one that has this problem for student housing. Charge ahead and make that call. Good luck.

What ways do people find accomodation when going for short breaks in the Uk?

karslake house needs your help to find the best ways to market their accomodation.

I would go the website of the local tourist board and flick through it.

If I was going e.g to Exmoor , I would look at the Exmoor National Park Accommodation directory.

And then after I have made a short list I would go to TripAdvisor website to read reviews from previous guests. I use that a lot.

What is the cheapest price for Accomodation in Sydney?

I have recently been to sydney for a holiday with my family, i have met this girl and we have both fallen in love, i want to come back and see her, does anyone know what the cheapest cost for accomodation in sydney so i can get a idea and start saving.

If you are looking for a cheap/ free accommodation way to have a holiday, google the Global Freeloaders website. Another strategy is WOOFing. Google WOOF. Or you could just google the YMCA, or various backpacker hostels in the city you want to go to. Have a look at a website called TripAdvisor.

USA Holiday – What is cheapest option for accommodation and travel between cities?

I am planning a trip to the US. I am a student and have a tight budget. What are the cheapest accommodation options and also the cheapest ways to travel between cities?

Other answers are correct and hostels are not as common or usually as good in the USA as in Europe, but they do exist and this is an example:

http://www.indiahousehostel.com/

There are low cost hotels and motels in most places. Check sites like TripAdviser for guest ratings & comments.

Consider joining SERVAS, which offers vetted local contacts in many places and can be an alternative to staying in hostels/hotels:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Servas_Open_Doors

Both Greyhound (bus) and AmTrak (train) offer passes.Greyhoundd goes to many more locations than AmTrak, but the bus is not a comfortable way to travel long distances so plan your trip in segments:

Citizens of about 35 countries can travel to the USA for up to 90 days at a time as a tourist or for some business purposes by registering for ESTA > before < their trip begins. The cost is US$14, which is similar to the fee for Australian ETA program.

https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/

http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/without/without_1990.html

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/visaservices/?p=129

Registering is accomplished online, you don’t need the details of your trip, and the confirmation is valid for multiple trips to the USA over two (2) years so don’t wait until the last minute.

Print the confirmation – or at least record the number – and keep the information with your passport. Having a return or onward ticket leaving North America is a requirement, so have a copy of your airline itinerary at passport control.

Check with your health insurance to find out if it covers you in the USA. If yes then take proof of coverage with you. If no or not sure then get trip medical insurance, which is cheap and sold by airlines & travel agents. The USA has wonderful medical care but it isn’t free or even cheap. Please do not skimp on this as an otherwise-silly accident could turn into a crisis if you don’t have medical insurance.

If you are planning a long visit then DON’T schedule your departure day for the 90th day (any part of a day in the USA counts as a whole day, so if you arrive at 23:59h on the 1st and leave at 00:01h on the 10th it is 10 days in the USA). Schedule your departure not later than the 88th day as there are no (zero) provisions in the Visa Waiver Program for someone to voluntarily extend their stay. If you miss your flight due to something Immigration might consider avoidable (ex. flat tire on the way to the airport) they may ban you from using the VWP in the future.

I am looking for an accomodation for the University of Birmingham?

I am looking for an accomodation for the University of Birmingham which is near the University, has a single toilet and a single kitchen(studio room). Can somebody give me a list of third-party accomodation that are still available?

I would look for students or anyone who want a house share on the internet. The area around near the University of Birmingham itself is quite expensive because its in the south west of Birmingham and often if you live where the forgein people live it is cheaper – the again areas like Selly Oak, Egbebaston and Harbourne are very safe areas (but beware of the Edgebaston – City Centre Border or Ladywood area) and you can buy a student bus pass from stage coach west midlands which you can pay by direct debit for 40 pounds a month. I don’t need one because I live near Birmingham City University in Perry Barr and use the bus only once a week. Student places and studio flats tend to cost a lot of money for what you actually get. Shared houses are cheaper normally by the time you divide the cost up. It is because flats for single people and students are in the most demand in cities. Because of the recession you may find a bargain on some shared houses. Of course look around the area where the university is in first because Birmingham is large and everything is spaced out, but if not then you futher afield. There are some places on non-student sites who will say they prefer or welcome students.

Try using this site because they have properties in the southwest of Birmingham

Could I find ok accomodation in Patong for around 1200/night in early November?

I’m planning on going to Phuket in November for a couple of weeks and pretty much just want to sit on the beach. Would it be easy enough to show up and find reasonable accomodation (clean, safe and aircon) for around 1200 baht/ night or should I expect to pay more?

Thanks for any advice.

I have stayed at Club Coconut Resort – nice and clean – riendly staff -5 min walk to beach for less than 1100 Baht – if not your style go to agoda.com or hotelscombined.com for other hotels that suit your style.
Patong now has become very expensive and over crowded – more scenic and better value at Ao Nang, Krabi and surrounding area. The beaches In Ao Nang are not crowded and you have fantastic views – also easy boat ride to Phi Phi, Maya Island, James Bond Island and others to many to mention.
Check out krabi.com, aonang.com , sawadee.com.
Have a wondeful time
