Is pregnancy a "medical condition requiring accommodations" if I’m applying to be a teacher?
I’m 5 weeks pregnant so not showing, and I don’t want to tell people who I am applying for jobs with that I am pregnant. I’m applying to be a teacher, so I can do all the duties without accommodations, except I will need maternity leave (which is why I’m scared if I tell them, then they won’t hire me….). On all of the aplications, they ask if I have a medical condition requiring accommodations. Is pregnancy a medical condition like this for being a teacher? Thanks
Pregnancy is considered to be a medical condition. You’re going to have to go on maternity leave, so that’s a required accommodation.
Just be honest. If you lie about it they’re going to figure it out in a few months anyway, and then they’re going to view you as a liar.
